Reporting to the Head of IT the IT Analyst will join a team of three and be responsible for infrastructure and application maintenance as well as project and development support across the group. This role would suit either an existing 2nd Line Engineer or a Junior Dev who wants more hands on experience with the platform stack and to pursue newer technologies like AWS.

Duties:

  • Responding to tickets and incidents raised in Jira Service Management escalated via 1st line support
  • Managing escalation of third-line support to Head of IT
  • Liaise with third party support teams for additional technical support
  • Maintain, monitor, manage the private and public cloud server environments (Rackspace, AWS (Docker/Terraform)) – Win and Linux
  • Maintain, monitor, manage back end applications and platforms (MySQL, MongoDb, Solr, CMS platforms, Apache/Nginx, PHP)
  • Maintain, monitor, manage our Google Workspace and Office365 tenants across over 4,000 users (including the wider plc group)
  • Assist with data migration projects using MSSQL and Excel
  • Debugging existing PHP applications
  • Migrating existing PHP applications to new technologies – e.g. node.JS, Python, serverless & microservices

Ideal candidate

  • Experience managing Linux servers (Linux admin essential – 2 years+)
  • Experience supporting Windows servers
  • Experience supporting and configuring MySQL servers and databases
  • Solid understanding of relational databases and preferably experience with SQL server administration
  • AWS experience preferred (training and professional certification will be provided)
  • Ideally some exposure to development pipelines
  • Excellent general IT Skills - MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access or SQL
  • Experience liaising with 3rd party suppliers
  • Experience documenting processes and configurations
  • Excellent level of attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, consistently meeting sometimes challenging deadlines
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated team player with the ability to work under own initiative and autonomously
  • Logical & flexible approach work

This is a new role required as we centralise IT across the group. Initial requirement will be managing a legacy architecture and assisting with the rollout of modern systems throughout 2021 and into 2022. Once complete, you’ll be in control of and responsible for the whole stack!
